The Competition NSSA Nationals Essay Example

The Competition NSSA Nationals Essay Today was the day I was entered in the NSSA National Competition. This will be the first competition since the accident. I can see the images replaying in my head as I lay wide awake in my bed, dreading to get this day started with. â€Å"Bethany.† My dad yelled from downstairs. â€Å"Yes!† I exclaimed back. â€Å"Come downstairs for breakfast NOW!† He said. I sighed. So I lazily rolled out of my bed and walked downstairs. â€Å"Good morning Dad.† I said. My father was in his early fifty’s, tall, blonde hair, and has a slim beer belly. â€Å"Good morning Bethany.† He replied back. â€Å"Today is the big day, are you ready?† as he handed me a plate with two pancakes with syrup and a slice of turkey bacon. â€Å"Yes I am ready and excited but I do feel a little nervous. I haven’t been in the water for a few months and I don’t how it will feel surfing with one arm.† I sighed. After breakfast, I showered and got ready for my competition. I gathered my accessories and headed to car the car where my dad was waiting for me. â€Å"You ready?† he said. I sighed â€Å"Yes.† I sighed. We drove to Ha’ena beach in Kauai, Hawaii, where I was attacked. Excitement and anxiety arose in me not only, because I was excited to surf and compete but because this is where I lost my arm. We arrived to the beach, before I got out of the car I said just a little prayer â€Å"Lord, please get me through this competition and keep me safe.† I walked out the car and down to the beach with my custom-made surfboard that was now longer and thicker to make it easier to paddle in my right arm. People were waving, smiling and wishing me good luck before my competition. That really boosted my confidence up. The competition has just begun, I watched a few surfers compete and they were amazing. I was kind of a little nervous now. Especially now that it is my turn . â€Å"Number eight Bethany Hamilton, please walk towards the water.† the announcer said. I picked up my surfboard We will write a custom essay sample on The Competition NSSA Nationals specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now We will write a custom essay sample on The Competition NSSA Nationals specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer We will write a custom essay sample on The Competition NSSA Nationals specifically for you FOR ONLY $16.38 $13.9/page Hire Writer
